September 24, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted an interim report calling on the government of Azerbaijan to immediately release Ilgar Mammadov and guarantee his physical integrity.
The Committe of Ministers, following the examination of the execution by Azerbaijan of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Ilgar Mammadov, adopted the interim resolution, in which it recalled Article 3 of the Council's Statute according to which every member state "must accept the principles of the rule of law and of the enjoyment by all persons within its jurisdiction of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and collaborate sincerely and effectively in the realisation of the aim of the Council [of Europe]".
The Committee deplored deeply the continuing detention of Ilgar Mammadov and called for his immediate release.
Mammadov was arrested in February 2013 and in March 2014, he was sentenced to seven years in jail.
