Today, December 3, Transparency International launched its 2014 Corruption Perception Index. According to this year’s indicators Azerbaijan ranks 126 on the list of 175 countries receiving an overall score of 29. During his visit to Azerbaijan in November, the Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) Giovanni Kessler hailed Azerbaijan in its fight against corruption. Kessler was in Azerbaijan to attend 3rd session of the Assembly of Parties of the International Anti- Corruption Academy (IACA).
Last year Azerbaijan ranked 127 among 177 countries.
Among the country's neighbors, Armenia remained at 94, while Georgia made considerable progress moving from 56 to 50 place. In contrast, Azerbaijan's closest ally Turkey regressed from 56 to 64 place.
