AzadliqRadiosu reporters on the ground say relatives and family members of those detained during the confrontation yesterday (August 22), gathered outside Mingachevir Police station expecting release of their family members.
Family members claim police so far refused to provide them with any information.
According to the information released by the Ministry of Interior in total 21 people have been detained. They are being accused of violating public order, causing injuries for the 4 police officers and destroying one police car.
President Ilham Aliyev is monitoring the case closely.
Following the incident, the lieutenant was dismissed while the Chief Colonel of the Mingachevir City Police was severely reprimanded. Earlier, local residents demanded that the chief is punished given his direct involvement in the murder of the deceased. In the meantime, an earlier statement from the Ministry of the Interior said, "Bahruz Hajiyev was suspected of illegal sale and use of drugs. He was brought in for questioning during which he suddenly threw himself out of the window. A forensic examination revealed no signs of physical torture or violence."

It is virtually impossible to film at the police station. But according to AzadliqRadiosu reporters on the ground, some of the residents detained during the confrontation have been released.
Sound bombs were used to disperse the crowd.

According to AzadliqRadiosu reporters on the ground, the internet cafes are under strict contorl at the moment with police preventing people from using them.
The clashes seem to have died down but the police is everywhere around the main downtown area. There are rumors another confrontation will start after 10pm local time.
Among the police dispersing the crowd there were plain clothed men running around with batons in their hands and attacking residents.
Local women tell reporters from AzadliqRadiosu the people intend to take down the police head Alasgar Badalov as protest continune.

A large group of local residents are marching towards the local police headquarters to protest the death of 27 year old Bahruz Haciyev who was found dead yesterday August 21. Despite Haciyev's father and his attempts to stop the crowd, they are determined to continue.

On August 21, in Azerbaijan's fourth largest city, Mingachevir, a young man was found dead. The footage which was made available by the local police shows Bahruz Haciyev enter the police station. So far, police officers said Haciyev was brought in for questioning. But the reasons for this decision are yet unlcear.

After the news of Haciyev's death reached the residents, a confrontation took place between the residents and the police forces. According to one local resident police used batons and shields.
In first inquiry with the local police station last night, police reported of no such confrontation. Police also said, Haciyev suddenly threw himself out of the windon during the questioning. But Haciyev's relatives claim police is directly responsible in Haciyev's death. It was them who threw him out of the window claim local residents and Haciyev's residents.
His father, in an interview with Azadliq Radiosu said, there were multiple bruises all over his body from what looked like baton sides. "A man who threw himself out of a window would have broken limbs, but my sun didn't. They must have tried to accuse of something. He didn't agree. After which police beat him up so badly that he died. To hide this, they simply threw him out of the window of the third floor of the police station".
The young man's funeral took place in the early hours of August 22.
