June 24, an employee of one of the British companies working at the European Games was reported dead earlier this morning. The British embassy spokesperson Gunel Ahmadova confirmed the death however the circumstances and the details of the death are not disclosed.
Two more British nationals were hospitalized, added Ahmadova.
Simon Clegg, chief operating officer of the games, declined to make any further comments, saying “details of the incident are still being determined”.
This won’t be the first casualty of the Euro-Games. June 11, three Austrian swimmers were hit by a bus at the athlete’s village sustaining multiple injuries. One of the swimmers, 15-year-old Vanessa Sahinovic, remains in coma suffering spinal injuries.
The European Games opened June 12 in the capital of Baku and will end on June 28.
