March 26, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) launched the Press Uncuffed: Free the Press campaign to raise awareness about journalists imprisoned around the world in connection with their coverage of news in the public interest.
The campaign, is conducted in partnership with students at the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
There are nine highlighted cases of journalists imprisoned on anti-state or retaliatory charges.
Khadija Ismayilova, investigative reporter from Azerbaijan is on this list.
This campaign is one of the most recent initiatives launched globally calling for attention in the case of arrested journalists around the world.
According to CPJ census, there were 221 journalists jailed worldwide.
