Journalist Khadija Ismayilova’s Sentence Reversed to a Suspended Sentence
May 25, Supreme Court in Baku acquitted Khadija Ismayilova of embezzlement and abuse of power charges. On the charges of illegal entrepreneurship and tax evasion, Ismayilova’s sentence was reduced to 3 years and 6 months and converted into a suspended term.
Ismayilova was challenging her 7 ½ year sentence on May 25.
She was not in court but her lawyer Fariz Namazli says they expect her release later this evening.
