February 24, a group of rights organizations calls upon the United Nations Human Rights Council to address rapidly deteriorating situation in Azerbaijan at the 28th session of the UN HRC.
The letter highlights some of the recent cases of crackdown against human rights defenders, media outlets and civil society, all of which have had significant impact on the overal freedoms in the country.
"We therefore strongly urge your delegation to mobilize the Council to put forward a joint Item 4 statement at the upcoming session", reads the letter.
Earlier statements on Azerbaijan were made in March 2012 by Norway and Denmark during the Human Rights Council Session in Geneva.
