After the news of Haciyev's death reached the residents, a confrontation took place between the residents and the police forces. According to one local resident police used batons and shields.

In first inquiry with the local police station last night, police reported of no such confrontation. Police also said, Haciyev suddenly threw himself out of the windon during the questioning. But Haciyev's relatives claim police is directly responsible in Haciyev's death. It was them who threw him out of the window claim local residents and Haciyev's residents.

His father, in an interview with Azadliq Radiosu said, there were multiple bruises all over his body from what looked like baton sides. "A man who threw himself out of a window would have broken limbs, but my sun didn't. They must have tried to accuse of something. He didn't agree. After which police beat him up so badly that he died. To hide this, they simply threw him out of the window of the third floor of the police station".

The young man's funeral took place in the early hours of August 22.
